Boys and Girls Club ceases
childcare service in Rocky

BGC Clearwater Club (aka Boys and Girls Club) will stop offering childcare services at the end of the month.
The announcement was made on Friday, Feb. 14, via a press release from BGC program manager Les Waite.
The release stated, “After considerable efforts to address rising operational costs and low attendance, it is with great regret that we announce our licenced childcare service in Rocky Mountain House will come to an end on Feb. 28, 2025.”

The BGC mandate is to provide low-cost accessible services to the community and the press release explained the licenced childcare was no longer fitting within this mandate.

Programming is going to change from childcare to community-based no-to-low-cost accessible programs. The release explains, “We feel that this would be a better use of United Way and FCSS funding support and will address an identified gap in the community and serve considerably more children and youth.”

No date was given for when programming will begin.

BGC Clearwater Club is “currently in the planning and development stages of introducing a program that will benefit many children, youth, and families in Rocky Mountain House.”
