Roy Camps
Born to John and Eileen Camps, Roy was the third in a family of four that originated in Didsbury, later moving to Rocky Mountain House. While his father fondly refers to him as a free spirit, he was known far and wide for his long hair, glorious beard and love of motorcycles. Roy spent many hours behind the handlebars, stopping every once in a while to have a smoke and enjoy the view — the mountains always seemed to call to him. An electrician and hard worker, Roy carried a special place in his heart for the time that he spent in northern B.C., supporting his family and rebuilding an old house in the mountain tops. Often seen driving the old flatbed “the black beast” on his way for firewood or water, his green thumb and acres of lush grass were known in the area, as well as his willingness to help a neighbour in need. Roy will be remembered for his quick wit, hardy laugh and fierce love for his, and all, children. His greatest joy was watching his children become parents, and listening to his grandchildren and great nieces giggle and play. Roy wished only to be rested in the mountaintops with the cherished family dog Max. We ask that in the place of flowers and cards, donations be made to: Sagitawah Hospice c/o Friends of Whitecourt Society, PO Box 1101, Whitecourt AB T7S 1P1. |
