William John Ignatius Fletcher
1941 – 2024

William “Bill” Fletcher was a self-professed “little guy” who passionately lived a big life filled with adventure and abundantly rich in relationships.
Born in Victoria, Bill moved to Vancouver a few years later and had a joyful childhood with summers spent on Point Roberts, where he developed a love for the ocean. He attended Vancouver College, defying sizable odds to become a valued member of the Fighting Irish Football team.
Bill spent much of his adult life in Saskatoon, where he and Mary Lou raised their four children, and he spent his career helping others find their vocation. He was an active member of his local Catholic parish and a steadfast Riders fan.
Bill was a devoted and loving Pops to Patrick (Corinne), Catherine (Peter), David (Danielle) and Sarah (Matthew). He was a proud and playful Poppa/Grandpa to Brigitte, Felix, Lucia, Cadence, Philip, Amy, Eloise, Gilbert, Edith, Magdalena, Joel, Vivian, Isaac, Charlotte, Alice and Leo.
Bill found great joy in music, theatre, sport, the outdoors, and most importantly, in his lifelong dedication to loving and serving others like Christ. His legacies will be many: from the least, his loon call and chili recipe, to the greatest, that so many now know the love of The Father, because of the love of our father. Rest in His eternal peace, our sweet Pops.
Bill spent his final years in Rocky Mountain House. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Westview Lodge and The Good Samaritan Clearwater Centre for their gentle and compassionate care.
A service will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 5208 - 53 Ave., Rocky Mountain House, on May 23, 2024, at 2 p.m.
