Gary Donald Hamilton
Oct. 20, 1953 – Dec. 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Hamilton announces his passing. After a lengthy health battle, Gary passed away Dec. 18, 2023, in Red Deer Hospital with his family by his side.

Gary was born Oct. 20, 1953, in Daysland, Alta. He resided on the family farm until 1966, from there the family moved to Red Deer. Gary attended school at Eastview Junior High and then onto Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School where he graduated with honours. From there, Gary went on to work for his parents at the Sand Castle. It was there he met the love of his life, Carol.

Throughout his life, Gary had a love for sports — hockey, broomball, and baseball in particular. He excelled as a goalie in broomball and hockey. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing throughout his whole life.
Gary spent a short time in real estate before finding his true passion — the oilfield.

In 1979, Gary and Carol moved to Rocky where he resided until his passing.

Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; son Joey Gopher-Cardinal; brothers: Les and Keith (Sandy); sister Allison; sisters-in-law: Linda Cinnamon, Patti (Milton) Elliot, Shannon (Ken) Gilbert, Joyce Levinsky, Julie Levinsky, Tami Levinsky; brothers-in-law; Ken (Ellen) Levinsky, Terry (Judy) Levinsky, Leonard (Marlene) Levinsky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
