Maureen Linda
Light
In addition to her career, Maureen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She married her high school sweetheart and was the proud mother of two children: Laura (Paul) and Darren (Jennifer). She married the love of her life Nick Light in 1984. Her greatest joy came from being Grandma Maureen to her five grandchildren: Brian, Kelly, Kyle, Brock and Cheyann, as well as her great-grandchildren: Marcus, Eli and Eden May. Maureen had a zest for life that was evident in everything she did. She enjoyed quilting, camping, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her kindness. Maureen’s door was always open, and she welcomed everyone with a smile and a hug. Her belief in Jesus was a cornerstone of her life. Maureen was an active member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. Maureen will be remembered for her boundless generosity, her loving nature and her unwavering faith in the Lord. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Maureen is survived by her beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband Nick Light. A memorial of Maureen’s life will be held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rocky Mountain House, Alta., on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rocky Mountain House Health Foundation towards palliative care needs in Maureen’s memory. Maureen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and friends who provided support and comfort during her final days. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Maureen’s spirit lives on in each of us. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
