Scott Munn
Born on Oct. 23, 1962, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to Faye and Gary Munn, Scott spent his childhood in Boiestown, New Brunswick, with his sister, Roxanne, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends nearby. After attending New Brunswick Community College in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Scott successfully completed their apprenticeship program and qualified as a journeyman in the occupation of refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic. Scott enjoyed working in his trade for over 35 years and mentoring younger workers. In 1984, Scott married the love of his life, Susan, and in 1987 they welcomed their first born, Andrew, and four years later their youngest son, Matt. In 1992, Scott travelled to Fort McMurray, Alta., in search of better job opportunities. His young family soon followed him. They made Fort McMurray their home until the year 2007 when Scott decided that the city had grown too big for him. He then bought a piece of land in Clearwater County where he, his youngest son, and father-in-law built his new home. Scott was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoors person who was often described as a man’s man. He especially loved fishing at Grist Lake and Cow Lake, quadding with his two sons, going on hunting/fishing trips with his buddies and sitting around a campfire with family and friends. Many fond family memories were made at Grist Haven Lodge, quadding at the sand dunes, camping north of Fort McMurray and fishing at any lake nearby. Scott is survived by his loving wife Susan Munn; his two sons: Andrew (Jessica) Munn and Matt (Jackie) Munn; his sister Roxanne (George) Norrad; his brother-in-law Lorne (Michi) Calhoun; nephews Jonathan Herechuk and Kota Calhoun; nieces Kara (Troy) Munn, Janelle Russell, Anita (Mitchell) Russell and Kana Calhoun; and his mother- and father-in-law Josephine and Darrell Calhoun. A time of visitation will be held from the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home on Friday July 21, 2023 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as the following day at the New Life Church from 11 a.m. to before the time of service. A funeral service will be held for Scott at the New Life Church of Rocky Mountain House, 5331 - 59 Ave., on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 1 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House, Alta. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Scott’s name to Compassionate Care Hospice Society, Rocky Mountain House, with special thanks to the caregivers who work there.
