Albert Stephen Swidinski
Aug. 11, 1926 – Aug. 16, 2023

Mr. Albert Stephen Swidinski, beloved husband of Iris, passed away on Aug. 16, 2023 at the age of 97 years.

Albert grew up in Warner, Alta., on the family farm with sisters Millie Cowley and Marjorie Cain, both who passed on before. He loved life on the farm and learned many skills that served him well in later years.  Albert was very athletic and excelled in sports.  He attended SAIT to become a draftsman and enjoyed a long career in the Alberta oil patch.

During a summer job, he worked in Waterton Park, and met the love of his life, Iris. Together they celebrated 72 years of marriage together, and enjoyed a life filled with love of family, travel adventures and many building projects.

With their young family they spent every summer at the cabin at Crimson Lake, water skiing and building wonderful memories. They also enjoyed camping, skiing in the Rockies and fishing.

After retiring, Albert and Iris travelled the world, including riding the Trans Siberian train from Russia to China, cruising around South America, visiting Egypt, Bhutan, and many other places.

Between trips, Albert worked on his dream of building a log home on their property west of Rocky Mountain House.  After building boats, canoes and many other projects, he cleared the land, cut the logs by hand, and constructed a beautiful home complete with a large landscaped yard. Iris was working by his side for all of it.
They travelled to Mexico every year and, later on, spent their winters at their home in Ajijic, Mexico. They recently moved to Red Deer.

A public celebration of life will be help at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67 A St., Red Deer, on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
