John Wickens
John took his elementary schooling in Red Deer before moving to Rocky Mountain House with his family and sister in 1976. He graduated from Will Sinclair High School in 1983. He later did two terms at Red Deer College receiving his water well drillers licence in 1988. John worked at various jobs including Wickens Waterwell Drilling, Doran Stewart, and Rocky Wood Preservers. Due to ongoing back problems, John could no longer work when Rocky Wood closed out. John enjoyed time with his family first, then: hunting, fishing, Kiss music, concerts and practicing on his guitar. John is survived by his loving wife Hollie of 19 years; daughters: Cheyanne (Alex) and Madison; son Ace; parents Irene (nee Kind) and Reg Wickens; sister Colleen (Tim) Closs; cousins and best friends Wanita and Glen Wickens and so many other friends and relatives. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Lou Soppit Community Centre, Rocky Mountain House, on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. Memorial donations in John’s name, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the charity of your choice.
