Malcolm Gordon Berthiaume passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House Hospital Palliative Care Centre on Dec. 21, 2018, with family at his side.
Gordon was born at the homestead in Graminia, Alta., and is survived by his sister Betty (Bilida) and brothers: Stewart and Donny Berthiaume and Bob Bach, he will be fondly remembered by his sons: Garry (Karen), Elvin and Lyle as well as grandchildren: Melissa, Brianna (Andrew) and Dillon and great-grandchildren Nolan and Hannah.
Gordon was predeceased by his wife Barbara, daughter Michelle, sister Olive (Allen) and his parents Frank and Margret.
After finishing school Gordon went to work in the oilpatch at Leduc. After working his way up to consulting he started Mustang Drilling among other ventures before retiring. Gordon loved to fish and became an expert in the sport. Through his many trips with friends and his sons, he would often be the one landing the largest and the most fish. He had especially fond memories of the trips to the west coast with his son Garry fishing for salmon and halibut. Gordon was a long-time resident of Rocky and was well known for his helping hand with neighbours and friends in his retirement.
A celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, 4804 - 48 St., Rocky Mountain House on Wednesday, Jan. 16th, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon following at the Rocky Legion, 4911 - 49 St.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium. Memorial donations in Gordon’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
