Orrie Alexander McIvor
1990 – 2019

Our dearest Orrie was taken from us tragically on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at the age of 28 years.
Orrie was raised in Rocky Mountain House and graduated from Grade 12 at St. Dominic High School in June of 2008. He later moved to Sylvan Lake and from there completed his electrician’s certifications at Red Deer College. He was employed with Pronghorn Controls. Orrie also bought his first home in Sylvan Lake that he shared with his beloved dogs Eddie and Otto.
Orrie was tall, strong and devilishly handsome with a wicked sense of humour. He was very funny and fun to be with. He was creative and loved to share it all with his family and friends. His passion was to collect guitars. He would rebuild parts of some of them because they just didn’t “sound right.” He had a vast assortment of guitars that he loved to play.
He enjoyed the time spent with his nephew, Lawson, teaching him some guitar skills. While his niece, Morgan, was lovingly teased about her “boy’s name,” and he and niece Julie engaged in discussions about her studies. Orrie was a sweet, kind and generous soul.
He doted on his nieces and nephew who lovingly called him simply “Uncle”. He loved his friends and family fiercely and they all returned that love in kind.
Orrie’s influence will remain forever in the lives of those who knew him, and he will be immeasurably missed.
He leaves to mourn: his loving mother, Cindy McIvor; his loving brother Chris (Angie), two loving sisters, Cammie (Rod) and Alex. His nieces, Julie and Morgan and nephew Lawson, many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as countless friends he’d known since the age of three at daycare and throughout his life.
Orrie was predeceased by his father Harold “Sandy” McIvor; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at Rocky Church of the Nazarene, 5340 - 59 Ave., Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 1 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Orrie’s honour to Mental Health Services or Crisis Helpline.
