Howard “Howie” Anthony Smigle
Jan. 28, 1949 – Nov. 6, 2020

Howard Smigle of Rocky Mountain House, Alta., passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 6, 2020, at the age of 71 years.
Howard was born on Jan. 28, 1949, in Napa, California, and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School in 1968. He married Deborah (Phillips) Smigle on June 10, 1976, whom he met in 1971 at the Jesus Day Music Festival in Brooklyn, Indiana, and they have been married for 44 years.
Howard worked as a neon sign fabricator at Northwest Signs for 13 years. He was also a carpenter, electrician, and handyman for over 40 years.
Howard was very loving and cared for his family deeply. He was a hardworking, honest man. He had a great sense of humour, a jokester. He was very social, loved God. He was a self-taught musician and could play any instrument but his true love was the guitar. He had an outdoor love of the water, fishing and camping. He enjoyed football; his favourite team was the Seattle Seahawks. He was very patriotic and loved his home country.
Howard is survived by his wife Deborah “Debbie” Smigle of Rocky Mountain House; son Jacob Smigle of Calgary; daughters: Jessica “Jessie” Heron of Red Deer, Noel Smigle of Hinton, and Leah Wheeldon of Rocky Mountain House; brother Calvin Smigle of Sacramento; sister Judy Klaves of Chico; seven grandchildren and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his father Benedict L. Smigle and mother Frances M. (Moody) Smigle.
A private family service will be held.
