Local athletes off to 2020 Alberta Winter Games

Five young athletes from Rocky Mountain House will be taking part in the 2020 Alberta Winter Games in Airdrie this weekend.
Three local speed skaters will be joining the Zone 4 team, along with four speed skaters from Red Deer. Eden Ponto and Genevieve Barnett will be competing in the T2T 1 (age 11-12) Female event, and Dennise In will be competing in the T2T 1 (age 11-12) Male event.
The long track speed skating events will take place at the Olympic Oval in Calgary on Feb. 15 and 16.
Two local curlers, Wyatt Wright and Blaine Steffan will be competing in the Male Team Tournament for Zone 5. Wyatt will be skipping his team, and Blaine will be playing second for Team Van Amsterdam.
Curling will take place at the Town and Country Curling Club in Airdrie from Feb. 15 to 17.
The 2020 Alberta Winter Games will welcome approximately 2,300 athletes who will be competing in 18 different sports from Feb. 14 to 17. Schedules, results and other information can be found at https://albertasport.ca/alberta-games/winter-games/.
